about mute.ch
it all started in the spring of 1999 in a small basement club. as time went, other parties in various swiss cities were organised and mute.ch has to this day become one of the most important providers of the alternative clubbing experience in switzerland. having acted as a dj and promoting collective, we now focus exclusively on promoting the finest events possible.

mute.ch is constantly in motion and currently consists of five active members, of which all share the same goal: to shape club culture by each bringing in their ideas and innovation – creating professional and memorable parties. our mission: to see music not only as entertainment, but rather to give clubbing back its culture. since the very first party, quality and enjoyment has been the most important factors in defining what we do.

with over ten years of independently promoting and improving our events, our focus has not changed: be true to yourself and your surroundings, not only book the big names, but discover new talents and trends.

with our current party series MUTE the doors of the hive club are opened four times a year. aiming to provide the full spectrum of drum’n’bass downstairs and the finest in house and techno upstairs in the legendary tanzstube.

past party series
mute’s most renowned party series was the liquid nights imprint, taking place not only in zurich but also regularly in basel and bern. the night, featuring two floors was showcasing the freshest talent within the soulful, deep and house-esque corner of drum’n’bass on the one side and – depending on location – eclectic house and techno on the other side. the concept was to counteract the predominantly testosterone driven and continuously darker sounds blasting out of club systems the world over. after seven years the series ended in 2009.

in early 2006 mute brought the magnet series to life. this series is now being promoted independently. magnet stands for electronic music with life and soul at its core - celebrated through maximising the use of all technological possibilities. Electric disco adventures merge with never ending minimal tales and may end up in the happy end of a house story. The result is an exiting mix of sounds and styles which attracts the adventurous clubber like a magnet - leaving no desires left unsatisfied.

With other nights that mute has launched such as the the hype! series, serving up the finest in the exciting nu rave movement and the mu:ted series, representing the darker side of drum and bass, all the way back to the early days of mute with its kitchen parties – mute has always had an impact on zurich’s club culture.
